The House Ethics Committee is ramping up its investigation into embattled Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.), authorizing more than 20 subpoenas in a move that signals a deep dive into the congressman's conduct, the panel announced on Monday.

The committee said it has already gathered thousands of documents and contacted dozens of witnesses, describing the allegations as both "serious and complex" in a new release.

Mills has come under fire over an array of accusations, with the committee noting it will probe two separate incidents involving women that occurred in 2025. In February of that year, D.C. Metropolitan Police responded to a report that Mills allegedly assaulted a woman with whom he was in a relationship. While he was not charged, the panel noted that the decision not to prosecute does not equate to a finding of innocence.

Mills is also facing scrutiny over alleged behavior that prompted a court-issued injunction over accusations of revenge porn, resulting in an order that barred the congressman from contacting the woman on social media and prohibited him from coming within 500 feet of her home or workplace. The Florida Republican has also come under fire for separate allegations of soliciting prostitutes while abroad on a trip to evacuate Americans out of Afghanistan and allegations that he was involved in arms dealing while a sitting member of the House.

The Ethics Committee's announcement on the latest developments in their investigation comes as Mills faces threats of expulsion and a difficult re-election cycle. He is currently facing a primary challenge from Ryan Elijah, a former FOX 35 Orlando news anchor. On the Democratic side, Bale Dalton — a former Navy captain and decorated aviator who previously served as chief of staff at NASA under Administrator Bill Nelson — is vying for the seat.

The Ethics Committee has made it clear that the investigation is ongoing and that more subpoenas and testimony are expected in the coming weeks.
